Ray H. Bennett

Ray H. Bennett, age 85, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Raymond Howard Bennett was born July 6, 1926, in Brooksville, to the late LaLouise Howard Bennett and Raymond Elwood Bennett. He was a welding supervisor, and later the purchasing agent at Babcock & Wilcox Company for 33 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WW II. Ray H. Bennett was married to Betty J. Temple Bennett on June 20, 1952, in Kentwood, La., she preceded him in death on May 17, 2010.
Funeral services were Monday, April 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Bennett Powell (Theron) of Pearl; one son, Howard Bennett (Melissa) of
Hattiesburg; four grandchildren: Lauren Powell, Tyler Powell, Carl Bennett, and Sherri Dodson; four great
grandchildren: Hailey, Bailey, Josie, and Nico .
Pallbearers were Jimmy Wood, Carlisle Campbell, John Dean, Tommy Miller, Larry Pitre, and Eugene Bailey.
Honorary Pallbearers were Gene Baldwin, Tom Neely Miller, Greely Nash, Doug Wood, Kenny Dill, Floyd Bean and his former co-workers at Babcock & Wilcox.
