Raiders shut out by Mavericks, 37-0

September 12, 2011

Manchester Academy sticking with a run-heavy offense, handed Oak Hill their fourth consecutive loss Friday night, 37-0 in district action.
The visiting Mavericks totaled 268 yards on the night and quickly took control of the game from the opening kickoff and by the end of the first half had a commanding 30-0 lead.
Starting out their own 46 yard line, the visitors needed just two plays to strike first when Jammie Jamison scored the first of his two scores with a 42-yard sprint to give the Mavericks an 8-0 lead after a two-point conversion.
Oak Hill would go three and out on their first drive and Manchester would extend the lead by two scores on the next possession capping off a 60-yard drive with a touchdown run by Demarcus Mahone from 7-yards out, 15-0 Mavericks.
The Raiders again would go three out and out for the second straight time, gaining just five yards offensively before being forced to punt.
Mahone made gave the Mavericks a 22-0 lead with a 54-yard touchdown run with 3:58 to play in the first quarter.
Oak Hill found some rhythm in the second quarter after taking over possession on downs. Back-to-back quarterback keepers by Jeb Stevens gave them two first downs as they looked to put some points on the board before the half. The drive would stall after Stevens was sacked for a 13-yard loss and the Mavericks retained the football with a little over five minutes left to play.
Mahone completed his hat-trick three minutes later with a 22-yard score to stretch the lead to 30-0 before the half.
Defensively, Oak Hill looked much improved in the second half, holding the Mavericks to just 47 yards and one score. Jamison made it 37-0 with 6:05 left to play in the third.
The Raiders struggled in the passing game and were forced to run the football almost exclusively all night. The Mavericks held them to just 68 yards, led by Stevens with 34 yards.
Oak Hill looks to stop the losing streak next week on the road when they travel to Winona Christian.
