The Hebron Christian Lady The Oak Hill Academy Raiders are going to be back on the court this week for the first time since the holiday break. They will be showcasing their talents down at the Kirk Academy Tournament on Thursday, hoping to play both Friday and Saturday as well.
Head coach Brian Middleton says that his team has battled multiple illnesses over the holidays, but he’s hoping the extended rest will transmit into a refreshed Raider club come Thursday.
“We’re really looking forward to the second part of the season,” said Middleton on Monday.
Before the break, Oak Hill got in three tournament games on the books, one being a forfeit by Winston. Overall, they got out of 2010 with a 2-1 record in the district, claiming a win over Carroll to close out district play in December.
“I think we were playing much better than we had been earlier in the year,” Middleton said. “I hated to stop.”
Oak Hill has gotten a lot of contributions from their young players in the first half.
Sophomores Jeb Stevens, John Wesley Williamson, Conner Baird and Jacob Dickens have put in a good bit of time on the court, as have Adam Tumey and Phillip Liu.
Zach Bryan and Steven Jones are the two senior leaders on the squad. Juniors Reid Posey and John Robert Wilburne round out the rest of the club.
The Raiders will be in action against Indianola on Thursday evening. They have played the Colonels twice this season, and they split the series so far. A full slate of games will be posted as they become available throughout the week.
