The Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders have battled injuries in the last few weeks, but that did not stop them from toughing out a win against North Delta, which secured their placed in the state tournament for the second time in four years.
Mamie Allen, who has been battling the biggest injury for Oak Hill, pitched her team into the state tournament in that 7-3 win against North Delta.
“We played really well against North Delta,” said Oak Hill head coach Marion Bratton. “We looked like an entirely different ball club defensively.”
Now the team will play the No. 1 team out of the south in Silliman Saturday at 12:30.
Win or lose, they will follow that with a game at 5:45. A win on Saturday brings them back on Monday.
“If we lose both games Saturday, then we’re out of it,” said Bratton.
With Allen battling the quad injury and some other team injuries, Bratton is counting on his depth this weekend.
“We’ve got some flexibility,” Bratton said. “We’re stronger, naturally, if Mamie is on the mound, but we do have the ability to move some girls around and compete.”
The games will be played at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgelan.
