Raiders to dress 16 as Miller recovers from ankle injury

Friday night was one of those nights for the Oak Hill Academy Raider football team.
Just when fans thought things could not get any worse than the scoring gap between their team and Lamar’s Raiders, the sight of players being carried off the field was almost too much.
Late in the game, Oak Hill’s Reid Posey was assisted off the field during a series, and later on, senior running back Doss Miller was carried off by the coaching staff, after injuring his ankle.
Fortunately for the Raiders, the injuries proved to be only a quarter-plus off for these players.
Miller, whose injury seemed the most severe, returned to the sideline on crutches. He was determined he would not miss this week’s important game against Manchester.
“If anybody can tough an injury out, it’s him,” Oak Hill head coach Leroy Gregg said. “Friday night, in the dressing room, he told me he’d be ready, and he was on crutches.”
Miller was at the doctor, getting his foot x-rayed on Monday, as his team returned to the practice field. By Tuesday, all was good.
“Doss did not practice yesterday, but the X-Rays on his ankle were negative,” Gregg said. “We’ll brace him up today, and he’ll practice.”
Miller plans to practice the remainder of the week and start for the Raiders on Friday.
“That’s what kind of player he is,” Gregg said. “He’s a competitor.”
Gregg said that he should have 16 players in uniform on Friday, including Miller and Posey. Posey had missed time with an ankle injury earlier in the season.
Miller scored three touchdowns and rushed for over 140 yards against Carroll two weeks ago.
