GRENADA – The number “13” has many negative connotations in any spectrum of life – Friday the 13th or the fear of the 13th floor/aisle, which many establishments avoid.
Oak Hill’s Drew Riley may have a different perspective on the number after three contests on the basketball court.
The sophomore guard has scored 13 points in the past three consecutive games, including his 13 for the Raiders in Friday evening’s 42-31 triumph over the North Delta Green Wave in the Kirk Academy Basketball Classic.
“We started off slow and it was kind of rought,” Riley said. “We stepped up our defense and finally made some scores, sometimes when you do that you can win.
“Coach has given me the green light,” Riley added. “He likes when I drive and try a draw fouls to get to the free-throw line. We get our points there.”
