PSC promotes small business start incentives

August 22, 2013

Some 90 percent of small businesses fail within the first year of operation. The Mississippi Public Service Commission is working to help shave that number down through a small business incentive program which partners with energy providers to offer discounts on deposits and utility bills.

Commissioner Brandon Presley the program began two years ago and partnered with Atmos, Entergy, Mississippi Power, Center Point Energy and Wilmut Gas to waive security deposits, as well as offer a 25 percent discount on the monthly bill for those services through the first year of operation. It’s an initiative that is producing results, according to Presley.
