Police investigate truck stop shooting

A Monroe County man was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting in West Point that left one man injured.

West Point Police Department officers were dispatched at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday to the SOCO Truck Stop on Highway 45 Alt. North in West Point in reference to reports of multiple gunshots having been fired. According to a press release issued by the WPPD, as officers were on their way to the scene of the incident, Emergency 911 reported to police that a man was taken to the emergency room after having suffered from a gunshot wound.

Per the release, a preliminary investigation revealed an altercation occurred in the SOCO Truck Stop parking lot between two individuals from the adjacent county.
