As of Nov. 18, residents of West Point have another local option in meeting their pharmaceutical needs, with the opening of Point City Drugs at 849 Highway 45 in West Point. And owners Scott Cooper and Blair Thompson are working to emphasize the local.
Having met at Mississippi College for Women during their studies in chemistry some 12 years ago, Cooper and Thompson have remained friends and worked in both the corporate and small business world of the pharmaceutical industry. It didn’t take long for both to decide the “mom and pop” aspect suited them best.
“We both felt the corporate world was just getting too big for its britches,” Thompson said. “We love the mom and pop. ... Me being from West Point and practically raised in Mr. Ken’s (Harrellson) pharmacy, I grew up in this. I learned more from him than anyone else. He taught me so much.”
