Pilot Club holds box supper auction

January 9, 2013

The Pilot Club of West Point met Tuesday night to discuss ad and ticket sales for the upcoming Legends event scheduled for March 2. This years theme is “One Hit Wonders” and the venue is changing from The Civic to the Community Counseling Services Auditorium, formerly the gymnasium on the Mary Holmes College campus. The pilots are hoping for a large turnout from the community for the night of fun, music and entertainment.
The pilots are also looking forward to the annual Valentine Social at the Henry Clay Retirement Center. The ladies of the Pilot Club enjoy interacting with the residents of the Henry Clay every year around Valentines Day. The social will take place February 12.
“We look forward to the Valentine Social as much as the residents do,“ said Pilot Club President Debra Cole. “It’s a great time to make the residents feel special and have fun. Depending on how many pilots are able to attend the party, we will each be responsible for one or maybe two special valentines.”
The club voted on offering membership to two prospective ladies in the community. After a unanimous vote they will now be contacted about future membership in the Pilot Club of West Point.
After the night’s business meeting was adjourned the pilots held a box supper auction. All the proceeds from the in-house fundraiser go to Founders Fund. The fund was formerly known as Pilot International Foundation and provides scholarships for medical students going into fields that pertain to brain related injuries and research. The Founders Fund also helps with disaster assistance to pilots who experience natural disasters such as fire, floods, tornadoes and hurricanes. After the box supper the Pilot Club was adjourned until the next meeting in February.
