OHA tennis players state bound

The Oak Hill Netters played in north state Wednesday afternoon and finished strong, with the girls earning second in the north and the boys third.
In the first round of north state, John Willis Stevens of Oak Hill defeated Davis Roberts from Kirk Academy (6-1)(6-0) in No. 1 singles. Sara Dill and Margaret Hay defeated Dilley and Mathews from Lee Academy (6-1)(3-6) (7-6) in a third set tiebreaker to advance in No. 1 girls doubles.
Will Kelly won in the semis over Lee Academy (6-3, 6-3) while Stevens lost to Zaib Qayyum of River Oaks (6-2)(3-6)(4-6). Jack Mitchener and Jordan Caskey lost to Kirk in the semifinals (7-5) (4-6) (6-7) in a third set tiebreaker.
Dill and Hay won over River Oaks team (6-1)(6-2), while Mikka Davis and Sidney Holton won over River Oaks team of Schwab and Spence (6-3)(6-1) to advance to the finals and state.
Dill and Hay lost to Manchester (4-6)(4-6) in north championship of No 1 girls doubles. Davis and Holton won (3-6)(6-3)(6-1) in the North State Championship in No. 2 girls doubles.
Kelly defeated River Oaks (6-3)(6-2) to clinch North State title in No. 2 boys singles.
Kelly, Davis, Holton, Dill and Hay will now compete for a state title in tennis May 7 in Jackson.
