Sophomore Sarah Dill scored a game-high 17 points and the Oak Hill Lady Raiders (3-2) defeated Carroll Academy in a MAIS non-district basketball game Monday on the campus of Oak Hill Academy in West Point.
Maegan Ellis added 13 points, and Tanner Grubbs scored 11 points off the bench in the second-quarter alone during the Lady Raiders win following a 60-57 heartbreaking non-district loss to rival Starkville Academy on Thursday.
Sara Mumme tallied 14 points to lead the Lady Rebels during their second consecutive loss after a 61-56 loss to Tri-County Academy on Friday.
Oak Hill fell behind Carroll, 5-0, in the first two minutes of the contest but rallied to take its definitive lead after Lexi Harden and Sydney Holton knocked down four free throws from the line to give the Lady Raiders a 15-12 advantage before the end of the first quarter. In a physical game, Oak Hill visited the charity stripe 28 times in the first two quarters and made 21 attempts to grow its lead into double-digits at halftime, 35-20.
