Oak Hill Raiders eliminated from postseason

February 21, 2013

Oak Hill Academy qualified for the MAIS AA State Tournament with a win over North Delta School last week in Madden on the campus of Leake Academy. The Raiders were unable to further their seeding though after two losses to Leake and Canton Academy in the following days of the tournament. The losses placed Oak Hill into the fourth seed and gave them a date with the AA South State Champions Central Private School of Central, Louisiana.
Coach Brian Middleton and his Raiders were looking to upset the top-ranked Central Private, Wednesday evening in the opening round of the state tournament.
The Raiders put out a good first half performance and only trailed Central 28-22 heading into the halftime intermission. The Rebels though were able to pull away in the second half as Central’s point guard Simpson Anderson hit some huge three pointers and helped his team pull away to victory. The Raiders had to exit early from the state tournament 64-34 and ended their season on a three-game losing streak.
“We picked up a lot of experience making it this far into the the postseason and being a part of the elite eight,” commented Oak Hill’s Coach Middleton about the postseason run, “I am proud of them for battling and making it this far.”
The Raiders finished the season with an overall record of 20-16 and made the AA
State Tournament. Coach Middleton understands that it is tough when your team is knocked out of the postseason but he still is proud of how hard is team fought throughout the season.
