The Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders were not able to overcome a powerful Leake Academy team on Thursday night, falling 57-43 in the end, but they were able to rebound on Friday and make it a split at home with a 54-28 victory over Indianola.
In the first game, the Lady Raiders kept things close in the early going. Back-to-back 14-12 quarters ended with Leake on top by four at the half. The 28-24 lead would expand however in the third quarter, as Leake unloaded 22 points on the Lady Raiders, while keeping their total to 14 points.
The fourth quarter saw Leake score seven points to Oak Hill’s five, but the explosion in the third was enough for the Lady Rebels to cruise in the win.
Anna Ready led the Lady Raiders on the night with 22 points. Tori Ellis had 12 points.
Shay Atkins scored four points, and Paige Dawkins and Maegan Eillis had two each.
In the second game, Ellis came out with a great offensive night, scoring 23 points in rout to the win.
She led the Lady Raiders a 10-5 first quarter lead. In the second, the defense allowed just five again, as the offense got out in front even farther with 16 points.
Another 16 point performance in the third left Oak Hill up 42-10 at the end of three.
A 12-8 fourth, in Oak Hill’s favor, sealed the big win for the Lady Raiders.
Second on the team in scoring was Kim Kelly, who came off the bench to score 10 points.
Atkins scored five, and Ready scroed four. Dawkins scored five in the game as well.
In junior high action, the Lady Raiders split again. They fell to Leake 46-29. Johanna Carnathan scored 10 points to lead the offense. Bet Langly had seven points. Alice Wooten and Sarah Dill scored three each.
On Friday night, the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Colonels 44-29.
