Minnie McCool Duke

Minnie McCool Duke, age 91, passed away, Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center, West Point. Minnie Lou Duke was born May 12, 1919, in Gordo, Ala., to the late Lottie Jones McCool and William McCool. Mrs. Duke was a Seamstress for Knickerbocker Manufacturing Company for 12 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Duke came to West Point, in 1925 from Lowndes County. She was married to Herman Perry Duke, Sr. on Dec. 9, 1939, in Columbus. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1981.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at 1 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita D. O'Brian of West Point; two sons: Herman Duke of Grenada, and Bill Duke of West Point; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. One brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Bubba Vest, David Winfield, Herb Ingram, Bill Reid, Michael Bradley, Rick Stafford and R. P. Farr.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. and Mrs. John Cox, Staff at North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, Staff of Dugan Memorial Home.

Visitation was Saturday, 12 noon until service time at Calvert Funeral Home.
