Melvin M. Orr, age 84, passed away, Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center, in West Point.
Melvin Matthews Orr was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Dover, Fla., to the late Sarah Blanche Matthews Orr and Bedford Blake Orr. He and his wife were owners of Orr's TV Sales and Service for 33 years. Following his retirement from Orr's TV, Mr. Orr worked with the City of West Point Public Works Department for 18 years. He was a member of West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F. & A.M. where he was a 50 year member. He served with the City of West Point Auxiliary Police for 29 years where he had also served as Chief. Mr. Orr is a member of First Baptist Church. He was a
Veteran of U. S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. Melvin M. Orr was married to Anna Belle Coggins Orr July 22, 1947, in Columbus.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 2 p. m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Coggins officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Belle Coggins Orr of West Point; his two daughters: Brenda Orr Andrews (Jerry) of
Warner Robbins, Ga., Malinda Orr of West Point; and his dog "Pepper"; five grandchildren: Christy Wilder Green, Chris Dale Latham, Marcus Orr Taylor, Amanda Kaye Taylor and Sara E. Langford; three great grandchildren: Avery Taylor, Marcus Orr Taylor Jr. and Lila Grace Taylor. Six brothers preceded him in death.
Pallbearers are Jeff Grubbs, Randy Jones, Claude Cartee, Jr., Bill Saul, Robby Oswalt, and Bill Ladd.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Dill, John Webb, Homer Ivy, and Joey Wright.

Church "Senior Adults", P. O. Box 794, West Point, MS 39773.
Visitation is today, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
