The Clay County Board of Supervisors held its first meeting of the new year Monday, which included the annual appointment of a new board president and vice president. District 5 Supervisor Floyd McKee was appointed as the president for the duration of this year while District 1 Supervisor Lynn Horton was elected as the board’s vice president.
As president, McKee will be responsible for overseeing regularly scheduled board meetings.
“You’re kind of a like a judge in a court,” McKee said. “You try and lead in the right direction.”
McKee served as board president nearly four years ago and has served Clay County on the board for six years.
“I want to keep steady on working and trying to bring new jobs in,” McKee said. “I feel like we’re fixing to have spin-off jobs from Yokohama. We’re going to work hard to keep jobs coming in.”
