Marzelle M. “Sis” Gardner

Marzelle M. “Sis” Gardner, age 90, passed away, after a lengthy illness on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Brandon Court, in Brandon. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, West Point.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gardner was born to Bart H. and Myrtle M. Murrah in Eupora, MS on August 28, 1922. In May, 1940, she married John F. Gardner of Mathiston, Miss.  To them were born sons, John F. Gardner, Jr. and Thomas David Gardner. Mrs. Gardner lived 55 years in West Point until moving to be near her son. She was a bookkeeper for Seitz Lumber Company in West Point. She was a member of North Brandon Church of Christ at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Gardner, Sr. a brother, Thomas B. Murrah and her parents.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her sons, John F. Gardner, Jr. and wife Linda of Brandon, Thomas David Gardner and wife Connie of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren; Julie Miller, Laura Adcock, Brad Gardner, Angela McIntire and Mary Gardner; along with nine great grandchildren, a niece and nephews.
Mrs. Gardner was active in the Church of Christ as along as her health permitted. She was an avid reader and enjoyed arts and crafts.
