Mary Olema Hankins Poss, age 92, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mary Olema Hankins Poss was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Itawamba County/Fulton, to the late Delphia L. Spencer and Melvin Curtis Hankins. She was a secretary for Bryan Foods. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Mary Olema Hankins Poss married Billy Barton Poss Nov. 15, 1947, in Aberdeen, he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1985.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 3 p.m. from Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Doran Henry and assisted by Reverend Payton Myers officiating. The body will lie at Siloam Baptist Church from 2 - 3 p.m. service time. Burial will follow in Palo Alto Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters: Beverly Olema Poss Lang (Rocky) of West Point, Juanita Guy (Pete) of Columbus, Laverne Maddox (Harold) of Houston, Texas; one son, William V. Poss (Barbara) of Birmingham, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Crump of Aberdeen; and one brother, W. Douglas Hankins of Mobile, Ala.
Pallbearers are Chuck Portera, Steve Portera, Jeffery Mattox, Chris Lang, Matthew Poss, and Lance Portera.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Doyle Sumerall (Columbus) and Theresa, Dr. G. C. Galjour, Dr. Chad Altmyer, Staff at Dugan Memorial Home, Co-Workers at Bryan Foods, friends and neighbors.
