Mary Jane Smith

Mary Jane Smith, 82, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Mrs. Mary Jane was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Mathiston the daughter of the late Joe Fred and Jewel Bennett Doss. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player, accomplished seamstress, and was dedicated to serving with Meals on Wheels. She married Edward Hester on April 23, 1950, in West Point. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Joe Doss.
Funeral services are Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Larry Ferguson officiating and assisted by Minister Kirby Loyd. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include husband, Hester Smith of West Point; one daughter: Cathy Davis (Charlie) of Summerville, S.C.; two sons, Mike Smith (Elizabeth) of Columbus, and Andy Smith (Cindy) of Starkville; ten grandchildren: Austin Davis, Lindsay Davis, Christin Pack (Robert), Rebecca Harris (Jeremy), Jennifer Strom (Paul), David Smith (Lauren), Brittany
Fulgham (Tripp), Kris Simmons, Blake Smith, and Dawson Smith; six great - grandchildren: Drew Pack, Carter Pack, Cameron Harris, Taylor Strom, Evan Strom, and Lilla Fulgham; two sisters: Jimmie Bennett of Perry, Fla., and Helen Mitchener (Winthrop) of Baton Rouge, La.
Pallbearers are David Smith, Austin Davis, Jeremy Harris, Robert Pack, Joe Wray, Gene Fowler, Kris Simmons, and Paul Strom.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Scruggs, James Camp, Marvin Turnipseed, Bill Hudnall, Mac Steadman, Winthrop Mitchener, Homer Swain, Mary Martha Sunday School Class First Christian Church, and The Men’s 90 & 9 Sunday School Class at First Christian Church.

Visitation is today, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
