Mary Ella Smith Johnson

Mary Ella Smith Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, after battling Alzheimer’s.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 31, 1925, in West Point, to Blakeslee and Avie Smith. She lived most of her life in Phenix City, Ala., but resided in Camas, Wash., for the last fourteen years. Mrs. Johnson worked for the Civil Service Finance Department at Fort Benning, Ga., before her retirement. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and most importantly spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her smile and positive attitude for life and the love of her family. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her beloved son, Leslie C. Johnson, Ph.D. and daughter-in-law Marcia Johnson of Camas, Wash.; sister, Julia Nichols of Bakersfield, Calif.; and grandchildren: Bailey and Burke Johnson both of Camas, Wash. There will be no public services for Mrs. Johnson. Interment will be held in Ala. Brown’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas, Wash., has been entrusted with arrangements.
