Mary Davis Carothers
Mary Davis Carothers, age 101, passed away Monday Jan. 9, 2012, at her residence. She was born March 13, 1910, in Okolona to the late Mary Carpenter and James Davis. She was a retired school teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of Jr. Auxiliary and a director for teen town for several years.
Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church.
Pallbearers are Clif Carothers, James Carothers, III, Bob Carothers, Chuck Carothers, Chamberlan Carothers, Bill Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Hitt, Tim Turman, E.C. Jones, Cliff Miller.
She is survived by two sons: James Gipson Carothers (Wiss) of Norton, Ohio, Eugene Davis Carothers (Fran) of Hattisburg; one daughter, Mary Gene Martin of Bell, Fla.; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Carothers Sr.
