The Oak Hill Academy Raider (3-7; 1-1) played their final home game of the 2010 regular season on Friday night. Playing a very competitive Marshall Academy team (7-2), the Raiders were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 35-7 to the Patriots.
The good news for the Raiders is that this game was not a district match. That will come in the final game of the season which will be next week.
The Raiders were coming off one of their best defensive efforts of the season, a 14-12 win over Kirk at home. The Patriots, however, brought a lot of fire power, scoring quick and early on Oak Hill.
Marshall got off to an early lead, with a first-quarter touchdown that put the Patriots up 7-0.
In the second quarter, they expanded that lead, scoring a pair of touchdowns to make the lead 21-0.
The third quarter was a repeat of the second, as Marshall crossed the goal line two more times to make it a 35-0 game.
Oak Hill scored its first touchdown of the night in the final quarter, escaping the shutout.
The Raiders will now turn their attention to next week’s road match against Winston. The Louisville based Patriots have had an up and down season.
They are 5-4 overall, but they are 2-0 in the district. Oak Hill is vying for a playoff spot in the game. Winston is coming off a 47-21 win over Canton Academy on Friday.
