Margie Leonette Smith Murray, age 91, passed away Sunday, Dec.11, 2011, at her home.
Margie Leonette Smith Murray was born in the Pearsell community of Chickasaw County, Feb. 28, 1920, to Sylveston Smith and Delia Carter Smith. She was the retired owner and operator of Murray’s Grocery. She married William Eugene Murray Dec. 11, 1937, and was married for 39 years until his death on Feb. 28, 1976. She enjoyed working in her yard and cutting grass and did so until she was 89. She enjoyed taking care of her dogs and cats. She was a member of the New Montpelier Baptist Church.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. frp, Memorial Funeral Home in Houston, with Bro. Eddie Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Delia Murray Davis of Woodland; two sons: Donnie Murray (Carolyn) of Woodland and Willie Edd Murray (Helen) of Branson, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Ray Murray (Julie), Donna Todd ( Chris Davis), Susan Moore (Andy), Mark Murray, Wendi Watson (Scottie), Brad Davis (Dawn), Amanda Murray, and Donald Murray; 12 great- grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one sister Joanne Wofford of West Point. A special thanks to Cindy Cockell, Joyce Watkins, Sara Jones , Eva Lyons and NMMC Home Health and Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Eugene Murray; his parents, Sylveston Smith and Delia Carter Smith; and one sister, Virginia Smith Hinton Maxwell.
Pallbearers are Brad Davis, Will Moore, Donald Murray, Jim Murray, Mark Murray, and James Wofford.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Brandon, J.T. McQuary, Ray Murray, Adam Todd, Trent Todd, John Allen Verell, John Scott Wofford and Deedy Harrington.
Visitation is today, at noon – 2 p.m. service time.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palestine United Methodist Church , 18850 Mac Pate Rd., Cedar Bluff, MS 39741 and Arbor Grove Cemetery Fund, 883 CR 93, Houston, MS 38851.
