West Point resident Jimmy Putt, 26, was recently arrested in connection with a burglary of a dwelling located on Old White Road South.

According to West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley, at about 8 p.m. Feb. 10, officers were dispatched to Old White Road South regarding a possible breaking and entering in progress.

Per a police report provided by the West Point Police Department, Putt allegedly gained entry into the residence “by forcible means,” but later fled into a wooded area a short distance from the residence.

“He got into the residence and had an altercation and was wounded by the residence owner,” Brinkley said. “He was struck with an object by the owner after he gained entry, then fled into the woods with minor injuries.”

The first responding officer, according to the report, spoke with the homeowner upon arrival, who informed the officer that the suspect had made his way into the wooded area. According to the report, another officer was patrolling Old White Road South at the time of the incident, and was phoned in for backup.
