Clay County Sheriff’s Department investigators arrested two juveniles Thursday on the campus of West Point High School on charges deadly weapons possession on school property.
WPHS was placed on lockdown about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, after a CCSD school safety officer recovered a weapon from a student after fellow students had reported seeing the student in possession of a firearm. Further investigation revealed another student in possession of a knife.
“According to some of the school officials there’s been some trouble brewing amongst the students — different groups — for a couple of weeks,” Scott said. “The school and safety officer have done a good job of keeping a lid on things, but it moves to a whole new level when they bring weapons to school.”
