A local woman was arrested and charged Wednesday for possession of approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
According to a press release provided by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Jamie Finch, 23, of 715 Cromwell St. in West Point, was arrested and charged Wednesday after a traffic stop conducted by a CCSD officer on North Division Street.
According to Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott, upon approaching the vehicle, the officer “smelled marijuana,” which led to a routine search of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the officer, according to Scott, discovered the methamphetamine and the paraphernalia.
However, Finch, according to Scott, was not an unfamiliar face.
“We were familiar with her,” Scott said. “She’s been in and out of our facility off and on. ... She’s been a frequent flier through here.”
Finch was also indicted by Mississippi Department of Corrections for a previous felony of possession of methamphetamine less than 0.1 grams. Patty Goff, CCSD records manager, said Finch was on probation under MDOC for the latter charge.
Scott also added that Finch was an individual involved in an “ongoing investigation,” but declined to offer further details.
