The Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Clay County Coroner’s office are investigating an ATV ride that turned deadly last week.
Taylor Dragoo, 15, of West Point, died Saturday at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson as a result of injuries suffered in an ATV accident Friday.
According to the accident report, Dragoo was driving south on Bus Blankenship Road in West Point, when he crossed Barton Ferry Road and reportedly lost control of the ATV.
Preliminary reports indicate Dragoo went through a barbed-wire fence, and the ATV flipped at least once. Dragoo suffered head trauma and was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point before being airlifted to UMMC in Jackson, where he died at 6:41 p.m. Saturday.
According to the incident report, another passenger, whose name had not been released as of press time Monday, suffered only minor injuries.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said investigators suspected no foul play in the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
