A West Point man is in custody after Starkville police arrested him in connection with a reported armed robbery and shooting.
A Starkville Police Department press release said officers arrested 26-year-old Antwjuan Terry of 326 West Half Mile St., Apartment A8, in West Point on suspicion of aggravated assault and armed robbery.
According to the release, the department initially responded to the incident Thursday, when the male victim was seeking medical attention for a gunshot wound.
The victim had reportedly stopped in his vehicle at the intersection of Reed Road and Pecan Lane, where he said Terry robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money. He reported the suspect shot him. Then the victim drove himself to OCH Regional Medical Center to seek treatment.
SPD said Terry was on parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, which has placed a hold on him.
Terry’s bond has been set at $50,000.
The West Point Police Department, West Point division of the MDOC, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and SPD Narcotics Division coordinated in the investigation.
SPD is continuing to investigate the incident and further arrests may be pending.
