Local churches will participate in a Community Patriotic Program at 6 p.m. on June 25 at First Baptist Church, located at 134 East Broad St.
Church choirs from Calvary Baptist, First Christian Church, First Presbyterian, Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, First United Methodist Church, Siloam Baptist, First Baptist, Siloam Methodist, Cedar Bluff Baptist and West End Baptist will come together for the program.
Program Director Ginger Fowler said the program would consist of patriotic music and singing with some narration to go along with the music.
Fowler said there would be around 100 voices singing in the program this year.
Participant and Program Committee Member Julie Gray said the women would wear patriotic scarves, and the men would wear patriotic ties while performing.
Fowler said the idea for the Community Patriotic Program came from music minister Bob Gray in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
"They used to do this program for several years in the late 80's and early 90's," Fowler said. "Everyone seemed to enjoy it then, and it is a good time for the community to come together so we decided to bring it back last year."
Gray said last year's program was dedicated to Bob Gray for beginning the program.
"All the churches were interested in participating in the program again this year," Gray said. "It was a really great time and great opportunity for us to come together.
Fowler said there would be an ice cream social following the program with home made ice cream in the Fellowship Hall.
The practice for the program will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church sanctuary.
