As trick-or-treaters flood the streets of West Point and Clay County Thursday night, local law enforcement officials are urging participants to take caution.
West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley said citizens and motorists should be especially careful when traveling to watch for pedestrians, particularly during prime trick-or-treating hours at dusk. Brinkley also urged those making the rounds to go early in the evening, and to travel in groups.
âWe're encouraging parents to accompany their kids while trick-or-treating, especially younger children,â Brinkley said. âYou should go to homes you know, go to well-lit homes. If you walk up to some place where the lights are out, and you don't know the people who live there it might be better to just go somewhere else.â
