Lann, Allen Wedding
Kirby Elizabeth Lann and Louis Brock Allen both of Aberdeen were married Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at half past one in the afternoon at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, Miss., Rev. David Harrell officiated.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Henley Lann III of Aberdeen, Miss. The bride is the granddaughter of Joe Edward Grissom of Aberdeen, Miss., Betty Grissom and her husband Glen Grissom of Columbus, Miss., Walter Henley Lann, Jr. and his wife, Patti Lann of Aberdeen, Miss., and the late Mary Avis Lann.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Boyd Allen. The groom is the grandson of Mr. Louis Leroy Simmons and the late Della McDonald Simmons and Mrs. Antoinette Sloan Allen and the late Boyd Edward Allen all of Aberdeen, Miss.
Music for the ceremony was provided by pianist, Emily Seymour. Sally Harrell sang â€śSurely the Presenceâ€ť acapella.
Upon entering the church, guest were treated to the sight of beautiful fresh green garland made of springrye and plumose fern cascading across the tops of the pews. This led the eye to the spot where the bride and groom would exchange vows. The bride and groom were framed by two massive floral designs of hydrangea, belles of Ireland, star gazer lilies, and eleagnus.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a designer gown of dupioni silk fashioned with a sculptured strapless neckline, ruched bodice and modified mermaid skirt sweeping into a chapel train. Worn with her gown was an Alenconlace jacket encircled at the waistline with a wide satin ribbon tied in a half-bow. In her hair she wore a cluster of coin pearls caught with French illusion. The bride wore pearl stud earrings that were a gift from the groom and a pearl bracelet lent to her by her mother. She carried an asymmetrical bouquet of white blossoms of stock, lisianthus, ranunculus, peonies, stephanotis, and hydrangea.
Leslie Lann Dimino of Starkville, Miss., twin sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Abby Estelle Lann, of Aberdeen, served her sister as maid of honor. They wore passion colored knee length dresses by designer Lula Kate of dupioni silk. They both featured a built in band and double inverted pleated skirt. Leslieâ€™s dress featured a scoop neck with a ruffle detail and Abbyâ€™s was one-shoulder with the same ruffle detail. They carried hand-tied designs of green hydrangea, amethyst lisianthus, and lavender alstroemeria lilies.
Serving as best men were the groomâ€™s father and nephew, Peyton Thomas Allen of Aberdeen, Miss. Groomsmen were the groomâ€™s brothers, Anthony Troy Allen of Ridgeland and Clint Edward Allen of Aberdeen, Miss.
A dessert reception was held at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. The reception featured floral arrangements by Cindy Reese of Starkville. The flowers on the table filled with desserts consisted of white star gazer lilies, roses, bells of Ireland lisianthus, arranged in a crystal vase. Individual tables were adorned with tall crystal vases of white star gazer lilies. The guests were entertained by pianist, Judy Staggers. The five-tiered white butter cream iced cake was baked by Marion Miller. It featured a swirl design and the coupleâ€™s monogram. The cake sat on an antique mirror and was complimented with fresh flowers on top. The couple left the reception on a decorated golf cart and spent their first night on the grounds of Old Waverly at the â€śFishermanâ€™s Cabin.â€ť
R.W. Cantrell of Smithville, Miss., chauffeured the couple on their wedding day in a restored 1947 Chrysler limousine bought new by the brideâ€™s great-grandfather, Walter Lann, Sr.
On the eve of the wedding, a casual rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groomâ€™s parents at Penny Laneâ€™s in Aberdeen. Meaningful toasts were given by both families.

After a wedding trip to Asheville, N.C., the couple is at home in Aberdeen. The bride is employed by Columbus Cardiovascular Care as the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Columbus. The groom is employed by Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
