The West Point Lady Green Wave basketball team did not have a great first week in the regular season.
Looking to rebound from a Tuesday loss to Houston, the Lady Wave hit the road to take on Tupelo.
It was the Tupelo Lady Wave who triumphed with a 64-47 win over West Point.
“We played a good first half,” said West Point head coach Jemmye Ann Helms. “In the second half, they pressed us a little bit, and we didn’t react too well to the press.”
Helms said her team got out-rebounded in the second half, helping Tupelo pull away even farther.
“It’s early, but we’re still getting better,” Helms said. “We’re going continue to get better.”
Kelsei Ewings led the Lady Wave with 18 points on the night.
West Point will return home for the first time since the Green Wave Classic, taking on East Oktibbeha on Thursday night.
