The West Point Lady Green Wave hoops team has been doing well as of late, sealing three wins in a row, leading up to district play.
That first district game is set to take place tonight, as the Lady Wave prepare to face Saltillo on the road.
Last Week, the girls hit the court for the first time against Noxubee County. Noxubee stayed in the game for all four quarters, but West Point prevailed in the end. The same was the case for last Friday night’s home game against Aberdeen.
The Lady Wave would take that game as well. The next day, West Point hit the road to take on Lake High School at the Noxubee Tournament.
West Point’s leading scorer, Kelsei Ewings, lit up the scoreboard that afternoon with 24 points scored, helping her team to a 49-35 win.
Nekeisha Walker also added 10 points in that game, and she has been contributing big numbers to the latest Green Wave wins.
All of those games were just preparation, however, for tonight’s big showdown that will feature these district opponents squaring off against one another for the first time this season.
Last season, it was Saltillo who defeated the Lady Green Wave in the district title game.
West Point will also play a match against Tupelo on Saturday here in West Point.
