Lady Wave fall to Kemper

November 20, 2012

The Lady Wave could not get much done Monday night against Kemper County as the Lady Wildcats ran rampant in the West Point gym. West Point was on the wrong side of a twenty point deficit and fell to the Lady Wildcats 53-33.
It was a very tough night as the Lady Wave could not find much rhythm from the floor and failed to hit many of their shots. Along with poor shooting, West Point had a hard time defending a very disciplined Kemper County who continually set up plays on the offensive side of the floor. By halftime, the Lady Wave trailed the Lady Wildcats by 17 points with the scoreboard reading 33-16.
Once again, the Lady Wildcats continued their dominance on the floor during the second half of play. Kemper County outscored the Lady Wave 16-8 in the third quarter and extended their lead out to 25 points. The quarter ended with the score at 49-25.
West Point though showed a better performance in the fourth quarter as the Lady Wave put forth a strong effort to chip away at the 25 point deficit. West Point outscored Kemper County 9-4 in the quarter and finished the game only trailing by 20 points. Kemper County though was the winner at the final buzzer 53-33.
Once again, Qiayan Bailey led the scoring column for West Point with 9 points. Mata Stovall and Brittnie White both scoring 6 points along with Shamaya Lyles and Alicia Witherspoon contributing 4 points. Sherica Moore and Leslie Bean scored 2 points in the Monday night loss.
The Lady Wave will return to action on Saturday November 24 at the Houston Tournament in Houston, Mississippi. Their game is set to tip-off at 3:00 P.M. West Point will return home to take on Okolona Thursday November 29 with the game to start at 6:00.
