Lady Raiders exact revenge on Marshall

January 7, 2013

Stan Hughey’s squad does not lose very much, and when they do, they take it personally. If your team beats them the first time around, the second contest could be painful. Saturday’s rematch in Holly Springs was just that, literally and figuratively, for Marshall. In arguably the most physical game of the season, the Lady Raiders stepped up and responded to the tough style of play to grasp the dominant 57-38 victory on Marshall’s home floor.
Sarah Dill and Shay Atkins led the charge for Oak Hill with 14 points a piece and 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Anna Ready and Maegen Ellis added nine and six points, respectively. Syndney Holton finished with four points. Rachel Herndon and Kelci Jo Langford added three and two points, respectively. Lauren Billington rounded out the scoring with two points and “led the team in tackles” in Coach Hughey’s words.
The Lady Raiders travel Friday night to Canton Academy and come back home Saturday for a rematch against Leake Academy, looking to avenge another early loss.
