Lady Raiders dominant in rivalry game

November 17, 2012

Oak Hill put another win in the books Tuesday night to remain undefeated at the expense of Heritage Academy in their first matchup with the Lady Patriots this season. The Lady Raiders made it obvious they were by far the superior team as Stan Hughey’s squad cruised to a 63-22 victory. Oak Hill spread out their offensive attack as 10 players got on the scoreboard. Shay Atkins led the team with another double-double consisting of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Herndon followed behind closely with 10 points, including three treys, and seven rebounds.
The Lady Raiders got off to yet another quick start full of forced turnovers and fast break points to finish the first period of play with a 19-9 advantage. The second quarter was more of the same offensively for Oak Hill along with a staunch defensive effort in which they allowed only two points to close the half leading 33-11.
The second half of play was no easier for the Lady Patriots, who were simply out-played in every sense of the word. While the Lady Raiders shot somewhat poorly, they corralled their missed shots and scored on second chances. Heritage had no answer for their talented and well-coached rivals in the 41 point loss.
Seniors Anna Ready and Lauren Billington finished with eight points each. Maegen Ellis, Sydney Holton, and Sarah Dill all scored four. Shelby Tyler and Bet Langley put in three points a piece. Kelsey Jo Langford rounded out the scoring with a pair of points.
The junior high girls were also victorious against Heritage in the third sweep of the year in as many games.
