Defense was the name of the game for the Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders (7-5) on Thursday night. The Lady Raiders finished a decisive 71-19 victory over the Calhoun Academy girls. On Saturday, the girls finished off their first two-game winning streak of the regular season with a 55-34 win over Marshall.
“We played the best game of the year so far,” said Oak Hill head coach Stan Hughey of Saturday night’s win. “We beat a really good Marshall team. We put our whole game together.”
Things really never got off the ground for Calhoun, who hosted the Lady Raiders in the beating. In the first quarter, they did managed to score 11 points, but they allowed 23 to Tori Ellis and the Lady Raider offense.

The Lady Raiders scored 18 and 17 points in the third and fourth quarters, and the Calhoun team was only able to score eight between the final two quarters of the game.

In the game against Marshall, the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first quarter. By the time the half time buzzer sounded, it was 27-8 in favor of host Oak Hill.
Oak Hill went on to out-score Marshall 15-12 in the third, and their 14 points in the fourth were plenty to defeat the visiting team.
In the game, Dawkins led the team with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Tori Ellis had nine points and five rebounds.
