The Hebron Christian Lady Eagles were not affected in the least by the short Thanksgiving break last week. They returned on Tuesday, taking down Calhoun Academy, and they hit the home court on Thursday, clobbering Central Academy 64-22.
Cathryn Moore led Lady Eagles on the night with 16 points, nailing three three-point shots. Those three were half of the total threes hit by Hebron on the night.
They also helped aid the Lady Eagles to a 22-2 first quarter lead.
In the second, things got even worse for the Lady Vikings, who were completely dominated in a 27-9 period.
By the time the second half rolled around, the officials were running the clock to speed up what would eventually be a big win for the Lady Eagles.
Hebron is 11-0 to start the season.
Tori Nichols finished with 14 points on the night.
“When they go to the zone, we’ve got some girls who can shoot outside,” said Hebron head coach Greg Watkins. “When they go to man, it’s hard to keep Tori from getting her points.”
Nichols had scored 38 in the previous game at Calhoun.
“The girls just have a mental toughness and with the athleticism they have, the desire they have to makes them tough,” Watkins said.
The Lady Eagles will be back on the court this evening to take on Kemper Academy. The junior high girls will play at 4 p.m., and the varsity girls will tip off at 6 p.m.
