October 30, 2011

WINONA – An 18-point second quarter performance by Hebron Christian School all but solidified their third round victory over 1A Calhoun Saturday afternoon, 49-20 at the Winona Christian School pre-season tournament.

Using a high-pressure man-to-man defense for most of the game, the Lady Eagles never trailed in the contest, jumping out to comfortable 10-0 lead after the opening quarter and by halftime, the girls had a 23-point advantage.

Senior Tori Ellis finished with team-best 18-points all coming in the first half of play, she got a chance to rest for most of the third and fourth quarters allowing her teammates take over.

It was a better shooting performance for the girls, who against Delta shot just 21 percent from the floor. In their other two games, they’ve shot at least 50 percent from the field.

“I feel good about the win,” head coach William Cotton said. “That loss to Delta was tough. Still feel that we’re a better ball club, we just have to go out and do it.”
