With the electronic votes counted in the West Point mayoral race, it appears that Harmon "Robbie" Robinson will be the town's next mayor.
Just before 9:30 p.m., Robinson's lone opponent, Darlene Cox spoke with the Daily Times Leader, expressing her congratulations to Robinson on the win.
The first results coming through have Robinson winning with 2,773 votes to Cox's 303.
"I just want to congratulate Robbie," Cox said by phone on Tuesday night. "I am want to work with him."
Cox, who has spearheaded several community projects in the past says that this year is still early.
"I'm just getting started," Cox said. "Next up is bringing unity to this community."
Cox says that she loves West Point more than ever, and that she will continue to be a voice in the community.
Cox entered the race in January, her first run for political office.
"It was beautiful," Cox said of the race. "It was a great experience. I met so many extraordinary people. West Point has so much to offer. We are truly moving into the twentieth century."
