The Junior Auxiliary of West Point will host its fifth annual Charity Gala Oct. 7 at the Town Creek Barn to benefit children in West Point and Clay County.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will begin at 6 p.m., with the program to follow.

Tickets are $25 ahead of time from any JA member and $30 at the door. Reserved tables will be available.

Public Relations Chair Meagan Young said the proceeds raised at the gala would go toward JA service projects throughout the year that benefit children in West Point and Clay County.

“We use the money to buy school uniforms for families in need or to buy groceries, clothes or whatever else the family we sponsor each month may need,” Young said.

Young said JA made a donation toward KidTown, and the funds raised would go toward their monthly Sally Kate Winters project.

“Each month we take the kids at Sally Kate Winters to the movies, skating or we throw a party for them,” she said. “Last month, it was all girls there so we took them to Belk to get facials.”

At the gala, there will be a cash bar with beer and wine. Southern cuisine will be served and Matt Carroll and the Browncoats will perform.

Young said there will be a silent auction at the gala, and auction items were donated by sponsors of the event.

She said JA would be taking donations for the silent auction until the end of September.

Young said cocktail attire was appropriate for the gala.

She said the Charity Gala has gone well in the past, and JA is anticipating another successful event this year.

“Last year was really successful,” she said. “Our chapter has grown this year so we are expecting a great turn out this year.”
