Johnny Amos Mathews, age 64, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013.
Johnny Amos Mathews was born September 10, 1948, in West Point, to the late Beatrus and Lula Mathews.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt Pisgah Waverly Missionary Baptist Church in West Point, with Rev. Darren Harris officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Star Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Eddie Clyde Mathews of Park Forest, Ill., and two sisters, Mandy Lee of Dixmoor, Ill., and Vivian M. Presley of Clarksdale.
Johnny Amos Mathews was a former Captain of the Columbus Fire Department, and was currently employed at the U.S. Post Office on Bluecutt Road in Columbus.
Visitation for friends who want to sign the register is today, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 4 – 6 p.m.
Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
