John Ruble Sanders
John Ruble Sanders Sr., age 85, passed away, Sunday, May 8, 2011, at his home in West Point, Miss.
John Ruble Sanders Sr. was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Chickasaw County, Miss., to the late Daisy Clark Sanders and Frank Sanders. He was a supervisor and later an "A Fitter" for Babcock and Wilcox Company for 30 years,
and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WW II, a Purple Heart recipient as well as a Disabled Veteran. Mr. Sanders was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. John Ruble Sanders Sr., married Ruby English Sanders Sept. 13, 1947, in West Point.
Funeral services are Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Eddie Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery West Point with full military honors. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include, his wife of 63 years, Ruby English Sanders of West Point; one daughter, Pat Davis (Kenny) of West Point; two sons: Gary Sanders (Mabbline) of Sulligent, Ala., and Mike Sanders of West Point; four grandchildren; Tracy Wysack (Ben), Grant Davis, Haley Sweatt (Will) and Heather Sanders; four great-grandchildren: Lola, Eliza and Alec Wysack and Mackenzie Sweatt; her daughter-in-law, Shirley White Sanders of West Point; one sister, Elmer Sanders Carpenter of West Point. Two sons: Steven Russell Sanders and Johnny Sanders; three sisters and three brothers also preceded Mr. Sanders in death.
Pallbearers aree Grant Davis, Will Sweatt, Jack Danovsky, Tommy Simmons, Billy Shirley, Jerald Andrews, and Sonny Wills.
Honorary pallbearers are former co-workers at Babcock and Wilcox Company, and his hunting and fishing friends.
Memorials may be made to LeBonheur Childrens Medical Center, 50 Dunlap Street, Memphis, TN 38103 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Visitation is today, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
