John Lucion Poss

Lucion Poss, age 78, passed away, Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his home in the Una Community.
John Lucion Poss was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Aberdeen, to late Raine Edna Barnes Poss and Walter Howard Poss.
He was a machinist with American Can Company for 19 years; he also worked as a fur trader and trapper. Lucion Poss was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Japan during the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors, most of all gardening. Mr. Poss was a trapper and hunter. He loved his family and his 31 dogs and was a believer in the Lord and was at peace with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patti Lorene Johnson Poss Oct. 21, 2007, and his children's mother, Dora Jeanan Knight Poss, July 6, 2009.
Funeral services are Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jake Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Una. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his three daughters: Deborah Myers (Darrell) of West Point, Donna Colburn (Roger) of Aberdeen, and Lainie Adams (Richard) of Ogdon; one son, David Dewayne Poss (Priscilla) of West Point; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jane White and Betty Jo Bowen (Bud) all of West Point; one brother, Charles Poss (Sara) of Aberdeen. Those preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Amy Colburn; four brothers: Charles Gary Poss, Jimmy Poss, Wallace Poss, Ernie Poss and one sister, Sandra Poss Griggs.
Pallbearers will be Mike Poss, John Poss, David Poss, Brian Poss, Greg Poss, Kevin Poss, Rodney McKnight and Ronald
Honorary pallbearers will be Zane Myers, Darrell Myers, Riley Adams, Randy Colburn, Jerome Brown and his friends in the Una Community.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery, c/o Brenda Henley, 13660 Baker Road, Prairie, MS 39756.
Visitation is today, 5 - 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
