Jimmy I. Pollan

Jimmy I. Pollan, age 61, passed away, Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at his home in West Point.
Jimmy Irvin Pollan was born Dec. 8, 1949, in Eupora, to the late Nellie "Polly" Davis Pollan and William Irvin Pollan. He began his law enforcement career with the United States Army and upon discharge from the Army he worked with the Clay County Sheriff's Department and the West Point Police Department. Later he began a banking career with Sooner Federal Savings and Loan, also the Delta Corporation. In recent years he was a self-employed business owner operating Columbus Portable Buildings, Brame Avenue Package Store, Old Waverly Estates, and E & J Auto Sales. Mr. Pollan was a Veteran of U. S. Army having served during Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith. A member of the V. F. W. and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America.
Funeral services are today, Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chip Stevens officiating, assisted by Mr. Doug Walton. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Mt. Zion Cemetery, in Eupora.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Chris Pollan (Trina) of Starkville; Three grandchildren: Nathaniel Todd Pollan, Andrew William Pollan and Jacob Owen Pollan; Special Friend, Donna Jackson of West Point; two brothers: Jerry Pollan (Shirley) of Eupora, and W. D. Pollan (Mary) of Jacksonville, Ark.
Pallbearers are Claude Keller, Jimmy Taggart, Larry Hardin, Marc McClure, Sam Blaylock, and Bob Adams.
Honorary pallbearers are Members of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Casper Aviation Platoon of the United States Army.
