Jerry Milton Atkins, 83, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his residence in Maben.
He was retired from Babcock and Wilcox as a Welding Specialist, where he worked for 41 years and a member of Maben Methodist Church. He was an usher for Mississippi State University ball games for the Shriners. He was a Master Mason, Shriner, and memberof the Eastern Star, and the Chaplain for Boilermaker Union Local 903.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Atkins and Hattie Turner Atkins; and granddaughter, Susan Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Rena Vaughn Atkins of Maben; daughters: Debbie Johnson Nolan of Mathiston, Wanda Atkins Stafford (Robert) of Warner Robins, Ga., and Tammy K. Atkins of Maben; sons: Jerry Wayne Atkins (JoAnn), and Barry M. Atkins, all of Mathiston sister, Mary Nell Willie of Chicago, Ill.; brother, Lee Roy Atkins of West Point; nine grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.
Funeral services are Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11 a.m.. at Maben United Methodist Church. Rev. J. R. Eaton and Rev. Scarlett Sheppherd will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Maben Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
