James L. ‘Big Jim’ Walker

James L. ‘Big Jim’ Walker, age 82, of Carthage passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, in Jackson.
He was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Cave-in-Rock, Iii., to the late Nina Wigginton and Charles Clarence Walker. He was a tube mill operator for Blazon Flexible Flyer in West Point. He resided in West Point about 40 years then moved to Carthage. He married Melita Mae Shipp Walker who preceded him in death March 8, 1991.
Funeral services are today, Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at 10 a.m. at West Carthage Baptist Church. A graveside service is Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Ann Smith, her ten children, and 31 grandchildren; one son, James William (Bill) Walker, his three children, and four grandchildren; daughter, Joann Petty, her five children, 12 grandkids and two great-grandchidren; daughter, Jackie Lynn Peay, her two children, and six grandchidren; daughter, Joyce Irene Walker, her two children and five grandchildren, son, Jackson C. (JC) Walker, and his two children. Surviving siblings include, Charles William Walker, Patricia Clifton Walker, Edward Eugene (Big Ed) Walker, Larry Dean Walker. .
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Sarah Mae Walker; a brother, Clifton Eugene Walker.
Everyone who knew and loved Big Jim is welcomed to join the family and friends in his going home celebration Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery.
