Hugh Milton Moore

Hugh Milton Moore, age 82, passed away, Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at his home, in the Palestine Community.
Hugh Milton Moore was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Montpelier to the late Maggie Lou Pate Moore and Charles Andrew Moore. Hugh M. Moore worked in management for Babcock & Wilcox Company for 38 years and was also a lifelong farmer. Hugh M. Moore married Ruth Alice Madison Moore on Oct. 5, 1951, in Prairie.
He was an avid supporter of Palmer Home for Children where he was an Honorary Member. Mr. Moore was a faithful member of Palestine United Methodist Church where he held many positions over the years; the one dearest to his heart was his service as Superintendent of Sunday School for many years. An avid sportsman enjoying all events, but he especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team, and attending Oak Hill and Hebron Christian School sporting events.
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Palestine United Methodist Church.
Officiating was the Reverend Cary Sutphin and Bro. Eddie Brock. The family will gather at the funeral home at noon to go in procession to the church. Burial followed in Palestine Cemetery at Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include, wife of 59 years Ruth Alice "Tunnie" Moore of Montpelier; two daughters: Bonnie M. Thompson and husband Keith of Montpelier, Vickie Moore and friend Darrell Reese of Montpelier; one son, Andy Moore and wife Susan of Montpelier; Nine grandchildren: Tabatha and Bo Smith, Ryan Moore, Will Moore and Tiffany Palmertree, Laura Beth Moore, Bridget and Murray Shows, and Jordan Thompson; Three great grandchildren: Tyler Kilcrease, Hunter Smith and Coleman Shows; two sisters: Faye Pearson and husband Thomas E. "Pappy" and Glenda Clardy and husband Stennis all of West Point. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his son H. M. Moore and Grandson Matt Moore.
Pallbearers were Chester Patterson, Mike Robertson, Stephen Moore, John Elliott, Mike Shinn, Gary Brock, Benny Borst, and Todd Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers will be North MS Home Health Staff, Dr. John Cox & Staff, North MS Medical Center, Nurses andStaff, B & W Co-Workers and Friends, Athletic Programs of Oak Hill Academy and Hebron Christian School, Clay County Co-Op Employees, Jimmy McKee and Tin Top Staff, Friends and Neighbors in the Palestine Community, his
Palestine United Methodist Church Family, Earl Thomas, Will Ed "Bud"Thompson, Jim Murray, and Brother Bryan Scarbrough.
