H&R Block to spend tax season at Walmart

January 22, 2013

Spring is one of the most anticipated seasons out of the year.
Flowers begin to bloom, trees start to turn green again, and kids relish the week of Spring Break activities away from school.
One of the only negatives during the Spring season is that mid-April day when income taxes come due.
April 15 marks the end of the road for procrastinating taxpayers, but H&R Block wants to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to get those i’s dotted and t’s crossed before then.
That is why the company has set up a special table inside of West Point’s Walmart, offering tax services between now and April.
Joyce Washington, manager of this particular branch helped to cut the ribbon on the seasonal office on Tuesday afternoon.
“We did a grand opening this year so that everyone would be aware that we are here,” Washington said.
Washington says that this branch offers customers a variety of services, including checking the 2009-2011 tax papers of individuals making sure everything was done right.
“We’ll try to help them find money if it’s there,” Washington said.
Also the staff is equipped to inform customers about the changes coming up in the next year dealing with the Affordable Healthcare Act.
Washington also said that staff members can educate customers on taking their tax business online. This involves accessing tax information that would normally require a visit to an H&R office.
“They can go online, pull up their returns and not have to go to an office,” she said. “They can track their money as it’s coming to them as well.”
The office is set up on the north end of the Walmart beside the entrance.
